I would like to welcome all of you to the 2000-2001 Panthers! This was, by far, the best tryout that we have had in our 6 seasons. For those of you who are new, welcome
and For those of you returning, welcome back!
Well, we did things a little differently this year. As the program grows, prospers and changes, we must change with it. We have the youngest Junior and Senior teams in our
history. Size played a big part in some team assignments as it is important we have the appropriate number of side, front, and back bases as well as flies. The base groups were chosen according to the
size of the flies and so on.
As the kids grow, their roles on the team may change. We have some flies that will be basing this year and some small bases that may fly. Sometimes this brings with it
disappointment, but it also brings a new challenge. A new opportunity to learn, grow and feel needed. The most important lesson the kids can learn from being a part of a team is learning to be a
contributing member. Someone who will do what it takes to help the team and that a team is only as good as its combined talent and not of any one individual. Being on a team requires a commitment and
sacrifice as every job is as important as every other job. The squad can't perform without everyone so everyone must be committed! Building character and self worth through team membership is a far more
important than who flies, who bases, who tumbles or who wins. We know the kids who will have new challenges this year and will be working with them closely.
Your information packages contain all of the national competition dates. All teams will be attending the WCA in Nashville, Cheersport in Atlanta and US Spirit in Orlando. Not
all teams will attend the NCA competition in Dallas. The teams that are definitely going are the Small Junior and Small Senior. It is possible that the Large Junior and Senior squads could go as I will
be evaluating them as the season progresses. I have no plans for the youth to attend Dallas this year.
The dates of the regional competitions are not yet available to me. I plan to do four of these prior to the Nashville competition in December. The regional competitions
are qualifying events, held locally, and are instrumental in building confidence and seasoning. These events will be held on Sundays, with the first one in October.
Please make sure that you understand your practice day and time. I ask that you give your coaches the dates that you will be out of town during the summer. You may
e-mail these through this web site, directly to your coach. Please make sure that you understand the attendance policy. As stated in your information package, this can only be a rewarding experience if
it fits your lifestyle!
We will begin the uniform process shortly. If you have a uniform and need to exchange it, please have it cleaned and ready to go.
We will be starting our Individuals program in July. If you are interested, please contact the office to be put on the list ASAP. Due to the response from last year,
there may be a waiting list.
I am very excited about the squads and staff assignments. The staff has 29 years of combined Panther experience! This does not take into account the prior experience
held by all of them. Your children are very important to us and I promise to deliver a competitive, uplifting, safe, and fun season.
Thank you for choosing us and GO PANTHERS!
Joe
