I want to say THANKS
to all of our kids and parents. Why? Over the past few weeks I have received so many compliments and positive remarks about ALLSTAR. These remarks have come from people of other organizations and have seen the ALLSTAR Panthers at competition. They find our website and send me very nice e-mail! I always thank them and tell them it's because ALLSTAR has the best kids, parents and staff around.
When we are at competition, people notice EVERYTHING WE DO! They
notice how good our kids are (talent, behavior and sportsmanship), our choreography, how our coaches act, and the sportsmanship of our parents in the stands. We have received very high marks on all of these
and I could not be more proud. The ALLSTAR Panthers have the reputation as an association that supports everyone. We have always been polite and gracious in victory as well as defeat. Let's
continue to set this positive example!
As our competitive season begins, it is important for us all to remember that there are other ways of winning than only getting
that 1st Place trophy. I try to keep our objectives real, our goals attainable, and the program fun. My competitive philosophy is that our team and individuals routines are an evolutionary process. I believe strongly in routines being "clean and within the limits of our ability" and I try never to deviate from this. As each individual team member improves, the team improves. Believe me when I tell you that no one likes winning more than me but the ALLSTAR Panther program is about much more. I want to see a kid who feels that they accomplished something and that they reached inside and challenged themselves. That they are a part of something and that makes them feel special!
As we progress through the season, our routines will become more polished and more difficult. I use regional competitions
as opportunities to season the teams and to look at the routines in the context of a competitive event. This often brings an entirely different prospective as to the effectiveness of a routine. It also
gives us practice at getting ready for a competitive event. How to prepare the night before, what we do and how we act when we report to the gym, how we get checked off and leave, what we do when we get there,
when we do our hair, and how to warm up… just to name a few of the things! This is important experience for the coaches, parents and kids.
After each of our earlier events we will change things and continue to tweak it until it's right. That's why you must attend
practice! If you miss a practice, you will probably not be included in the changes. By the time we conclude our regional schedule, the routines will be right and the teams will be seasoned competition
squads.
To all of the kids, THANK YOU
for choosing the Panthers. Work hard in school, stay caught up on your work and realize how much your parents sacrifice for you to be in the Panther program!
To all the parents, THANK YOU
for having such great kids and for the tremendous support you give to the Panther program!
This is a very exciting time for our teams and I can hardly wait until the first competition.
I am always interested in hearing from you, so please click HERE to send me a note!
Go Panthers! Joe
